A Love Triangle of Sorts
So I’m thinking modern day, TV show, probably dramedy, 45mins.
It starts out like this: A girl shows up on her best friend’s doorstep in tears. Her best friend (not sure on gender and don’t know if it matters tbh), is reluctant to take her in but does. This is the first time her friend has seen her in 3-5 years. Can she be called a best friend? Probably not, but this girl doesn’t have a lot of friends or really any right now. She just got out of a long-term relationship, 3-5 years to be exact. When she started dating this guy, her best friend warned her that he was not a good guy and to not date him, but she didn’t listen. She cut off everyone and now they’re done. She’s seen through all his lies and gaslighting and she’s done. “He kept saying I was his soul mate,” she tells her best friend. A lie for sure.
The ex: he’s a bit of a twist. He’s a vampire (Man do I like vampires. That’s the millenial in me, I guess? He could be another supernatural creature. Vamps are just easiest.) He really does believe that she was his soul mate reincarnated. He’s been searching for her in every generation. Each time he finds her, he gets her to fall in love with him, and they live happily until she dies. She never wants to become a vampire and live forever with him and he always respects that wish. Not this time though. This time he refuses to lose her. He tried to get her to turn into a vamp, even going so far into forcing himself on her. That’s what drove her away. She may have been caught up in the lies, but the internet made her come to her senses about who he was. There’d be no more manipulation or explaining away his sleeping through the day and drinking blood or murderous desires. So he now has to get her back but there’s a bit of a problem.
Her best friend: She really did try to get her best friend to stay away from him. He was no good. Even the look of him was off. But now that she’s back, they figured they’d help her out. Help her get over this terrible man and what better way to do that than to kill him? After all he was a vampire and they do kill vampires. Vampire hunting is in the family blood. Yes, they had kept it a secret from their best friend that they knew he was a vampire from the beginning. And yes, they kept it secret that they kill vampires and other supernatural beings, but they figured they wouldn’t understand. They were just a human living in human reality where vampires only existed in books and TV. With their best friend back in their life they still aren’t sure if she knows she was dating a vampire.
Twist: The best friend is the soul mate reincarnated. It’s always been that way and he’s been wrong every time. The family has made it so that the soul mate was protected from the vamp because of the original lover. He did something that really hurt her so she vowed that she and her offspring would kill him and his kind for the rest of their lives until there was no more of them.
Not really sure how this story will progress but I think there’s something here, especially if it stays modern. Think New Girl mixed with Buffy.
