Homegrown USA
This one I clearly see as a 30 min comedy TV show. Never written one of those, but I think it could be done.
The idea is this: The US has had enough of corrupt politicians and billionaires being president. The last few presidents haven’t had the qualifications to lead, so why not choose a down-to-earth, farmer boy? So that’s what they do. On the next political ticket running as an independent is Joe Smith, average guy from middle America. The party pushes him big and surprisingly he wins. He ran on a ticket of treating everyone kind and listening to people. He’s not overly smart but he’s charming and funny and apologizes when he’s wrong and he’s a good man: no sex assaults in his background. Think if Ted Lasso became president.
He clearly doesn’t know how to run a government but he does know people and knows how to sniff out the terrible people. Soon he’s turning government around and working for the working class. The billionaires have a problem with this and come after him. Which will eventually push him out of office. But everyone remembers him and his legacy lives on.
Note: This does feel like Ted Lasso just politics. Not a bad thing to get more Ted Lasso-esque shows going.
